Bike4Brains Peak District Cycle Challenge

The Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust (SDBTT) is the largest brain tumour charity in the UK, funding vital research and offering support to thousands of people each year.  Sadly, brain cancer now accounts for more deaths amongst children and those under 40 than any other cancer, so we urgently need to expand our research work in order to find a cure for this devastating disease.


We are therefore launching an exciting new fundraising event in partnership with Bike Events, who are the UK's largest organiser of fundraising and recreational cycle rides, including the famous London to Brighton Bike Ride.

The Bike4Brains ride offers two circular routes, starting and finishing in the market town of Ashbourne, 'Gateway to the Peaks'. You can choose either 49 miles for dedicated cyclists, or 29 miles for recreational cyclists and families. Both routes take in hills, dales and traffic-free cycle paths as well as some of the prettiest villages in Derbyshire.

There are prizes for the top fundraising team and the most successful individual fundraiser.

The Bike4Brains identity has been developed as SDBTT will be fundraising alongside the neurological rehabilitation charity, BASIC (Brain and Spinal Injuries Centre): all profits from the ride will be split equally amongst the two charities.  BASIC’s services are designed not just for brain tumour patients, but also for those suffering the effects of severe head injury, brain haemorrhage and other brain-related conditions such as stroke; their website is at http://www.basiccharity.org.uk if you would like to find out more.
